Dave Mitchell got his first introduction to the wonder of photography as a young child through his grandpa, Dick.  He got his first camera, from his parents, when he enrolled in the graphic arts program with Wayne County BOCES, in high school.  His early experience with “real film” taught him the valuable lesson in preservation of a moment.  He still values the joy of capturing a genuine experience.  Dave worked as a traveling photographer with Walmart.  He received significant praise in his ability to get beautiful pictures in a small space, uncomfortable setting, and in a short time.  After a year he realized that the environment hindered unique photography.  He left Walmart and worked several jobs in the service industry before getting a job working with Hillside Children’s Center. Shortly before working at Hillside, Dave was asked to photograph a wedding for a friend.  They were looking for someone who could do nice work, at an affordable price.  That experience reminded him of the wonder in capturing cherished milestones for others.

In addition to weddings, Dave has added family pictures, children’s portraits, sports moments, senior pictures, engagement sessions, and product marketing to his portfolio.   It has always been important to offer a reliable product, at an affordable price.  Mitchell Photography has grown into a family business in every concept of the phrase.  Rene, Dave’s wife, helps set up the shot or offers assistance as a second photographer if needed.  Even Dave’s young daughter, Adele, helps in the process.  She has been known to help bring out a smile or entertain a child when they are not in the image during family or children’s sessions.  (Don’t worry, the kids won’t show up at your wedding!) Their son, Eian, has not yet made his mark on the family business as he was just born in the fall of 2015.

Mitchell Photography was founded through a love of film, connection to family, and commitment to others.  We are family first, and consider each person we work with as an extension to our family.
